Ducklings

We welcome children aged nine months to two years into our ducklings room.  They are at a remarkable stage of early development. During these formative months, little ones are discovering their senses, beginning to communicate, and learning to move independently.  Our environment is designed to be warm, safe, and stimulating, supporting each child’s growing curiosity and fostering essential bonds with caregivers. Activities focus on nurturing emotional security, encouraging exploration, and developing early social and motor skills, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and confidence as each child embarks on their unique journey.

The ducklings key person is Jan Ladbrook.

The ducklings have their own seperate enclosed play space, thoughtfully equipped with resources appropriate to their age and stage of development. The room feature a carpeted play area to provide comfort and safety during floor-based activities, as well access to soft play equipment to support active exploration and gross motor development. Children have access to a cosy story den, offering a quiet retreat for shared reading and relaxation. In addition, the environment includes convenient changing and sleeping facilities, ensuring the needs of all children are met throughout their day whilst in our care.

Our ducklings join the rest of our children for social times like snack and lunch.  Having their own area both indoors and out, means that they are safe but they can still have social interactions with the rest of the older children.

Although we aim to follow your routines from home, our environment is different to that of home.  When you visit, we can dicuss your expectations and any of our limitations in regards to sleep times.  Most of our ducklings sleep in the morning 11am-12pm and/or in the afternoon between 1pm-2pm.  We can prepare bottles, but parents must provide bottles and milk.
