Sturminster Marshall Pre-School

Policies

Our policies have been adopted by staff and committee to ensure their relevance.  They are adopted at a Committee meeting and signed by the current Chair person.  They are reviewed annually.  The Pre-School runs following the information in the policies and the procedures.  The policies are kept in the Pre-School Office and are available for parents to view at any time. They are also available here on our website.

1 Child Protection

Sturminster Marshall Pre-School as a provider is alert to any issues of concern in the child’s life at home or elsewhere. We have and implement a policy, and procedures, to safeguard children.

2 Suitable people

We ensure that people looking after children are suitable to fulfil the requirements of their roles.

3 Staff Qualifications, Training, Support and Skills

The daily experience of children in Sturminster Marshall Pre-School and the overall quality of the provision depends on all practitioners having appropriate qualifications, training, skills and knowledge and a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

4 Key Person

Each child has an assigned a key person. Their role is to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help the child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for the child and build a relationship with their parents.

5 Staff

The daily experience of children in Sturminster Marshall Pre-School and the overall quality of the provision depends on all practitioners having appropriate qualifications, training, skills and knowledge and a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

6 Health

Sturminster Marshall Pre-School promotes the good health of children attending the setting. We have a procedure, discussed with parents and/or carers, for responding to children who are ill or infectious, take necessary steps to prevent the spread of infection and take appropriate action if children are ill.

7 Managing Behaviour

Sturminster Marshall Pre-School are responsible for managing children’s behaviour in an appropriate way.

8 Safety and suitability of premises, environment and equipment

Sturminster Marshall Pre-School ensures that our premises, including outdoor spaces, are fit for purpose. We have, and implement a health and safety policy, and procedures, which cover identifying, reporting and dealing with accidents, hazards and faulty equipment.

9 Equal Opportunities

We have arrangements in place to support children with SEN or disabilities. We are funded by the local authority to deliver early education places must have regard to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.

10 Information and records

We maintain records and obtain and share information (with parents and carers, other professionals working with the child, and the police, social services and Ofsted as appropriate) to ensure the safe and efficient management of the setting, and to help ensure the needs of all children are met.
